Record Historical Rain


A woman
Sat in front of her door
It had been raining
More than ever before
She was beautiful in years
She had built her house
With her own mind and hands
Like the little Red Hen
No one helped
Her mind put things in the right place
Keeping her up sometimes till dawn
Till she didn't know night from day
But she still worked
Her hands, like her mind, were overworked at times
But, she wanted no other choice
Sometimes the roof leaked
but it was her roof
It only leaked when it rained
And, she owned it
The walls were strong

The rain beat down
Still she wasn't afraid
She had done her best
The lightning and the thunder she understood
At her age it wasn't a concern
She had lived past the age
When noise is a stimulant

Time will tell
She said to herself

All night long she
sang variations

At first light she realized
She'd have to wait longer
For the storm to pass.

 

AFTER ALL THESE YEARS
