    What "defines" the majority?
    Of what control group?

I do not allow popular culture to define me.
Maybe when I was a teenager.
Does it define you monkeyman? thheeatr

    True

    Tsunamis even

100th percentile would leave the ship docked that day

I think we can also, but not everybody and not everybody 100%

You can steer a ship but you still get thrown around by the waves

    No, please continue Monkeyman.

    Sorry for interrupting.
    This is your thread.

I just personally believe we have the capabilities to steer ourselves in the soup.
I know you have some interesting number theories.

I don't think any of us can confidently say what is truly ours.

I like to think I am not an automaton , is that wishful thinking?
What if the only unique thing about me is the experience of the moment?

Why do I have a dog?
I have dog because I like dogs
    Why do you like dogs?
I had one as a kid, I always liked dogs.
Why did you have one as a kid?
    Because my dad got it.
Why did your dad have a dog?
Because his mum gave him one.

    ad infinitum

    Mandelbrot ok
    Please continue
But, surely we are not automatons
With no control over thoughts and beliefs
Doomed to be molded by current experience

    Ideals

Pretty hard to define. Yes and no.

    What about genetic memory?

    I know how I know.

But, I am reluctant to speak of it publicly.

    What was once a hypothesis

Has proven itself sufficiently to my satisfaction.

Are opinions and beliefs always merely symptoms of experience, monkeyman?

    What about ideals?

Back to reality after a bout of sickness.
There are positives to getting sick, apart from the cups of tea your old dear or SO brings you and the binge youtubing you can do.

Sometimes, it can signal an imbalance, a lifestyle choice, an attitude that you are reluctant to face or change.

If you have a sore throat you always want to sing, if you sing too much you get a sore throat. Why is that?

It reminds you of the importance of balance , can you balance a brain?

It is a reminder of cause and effect.

    Opinions are symptoms of experience

Belief is a symptom of experience

    Can you trust your experience?

How do you know your thoughts or opinions aren't a sickness?

    Worth and value

What decides the worth of value of something?

    Supply and demand
    Personal satisfaction
    Desire
    Function
    Differentiation

I am sure you can think of a few of your own.

    What about information?

Can teachers teach or does the learner do all the work?
Modern theory suggests the role of a teacher is that of facilitator- the student has to do the work.

Do you value knowledge or wisdom you research and work for more than if something is given to you?

What if the lesson is an experience?

Think of Newton's cradle. The balls that strike each other you often find on desks.

There is rhythm, cause and effect.

Without effort there is no change...
