There was a nasty thing people did back in the day , a thing called a chain letter , it was horrible...look it up..
you got a letter and if you didn't pay the money asked into a bank without telling the police a curse was put on you , also if you didn't pass it on to someone , you had a curse put on you...
so people being people , they would do as told because of superstition....but would send it to people they didnt like , this was most peoples solution...
