Bon Voyage Bernie!

The old commie Bernie Sanders has given up on his latest presidential fishing expedition. His promise of ‘free stuff’ resonated with many, but the end result was the same. The sharks in the Democratic Party didn’t want Bernie and that was that. Instead, the Democrats have tied an albatross named Joe Biden around their unlucky necks.

I doubt Bernie will make another go at the presidency. He’s too old right now and has had heart trouble. His biggest trouble has been selling his communism or socialism, or whatever he wants to call it these days.

He wanted to reel in voters with his lure of free stuff. It did indeed attract many young voters, but those same young voters didn’t really turn out in the primaries. His bigger problem was many Americans realize socialism has never and can’t ever work. All the free stuff is quickly devoured. Once the money of others runs out, then workers must work hard to keep the free stuff flowing. Those workers have guaranteed jobs and pay, though. Why work hard if that’s the case?

Hard workers soon realize they receive no extra pay or advancement from any extra effort. They also see their co-workers getting the same pay for goofing off. Soon, everyone is goofing off. After all, the government guarantees free stuff and equality. Only the latter can be guaranteed. Everyone becomes equally poor.

The promised big fish of free stuff is soon reduced to bare bones. That’s when the government resorts to force. Everyone must work or face the threat of murder or gulags. That’s what the old Soviet Union did and it enabled them to last a bit longer than they should have lasted.

Bernie should retire, relax, and enjoy his millions. You can bet he won’t be doling it out to you and me.

Wisconsin Primary Tonight

The Brennan Center for Justice, which is heavily financed by George Soros, is advocating the use of drop boxes to deposit ballots on voting day this November as part of a suggested overhaul of the U.S. voting system due to the Chinese coronavirus pandemic.

With other Soros-financed groups, the Brennan Center has been leading a campaign advocating a “vote by mail” system in the upcoming presidential election, citing fears that coronavirus makes it too dangerous to vote in person. Some of the groups are using the coronavirus crisis to push permanent changes to the way Americans vote.

Analysts have posited that such proposals help the Democratic Party. Republicans specifically fear the prospect of voter fraud, since mail-in voting would be harder to authenticate.

Now Brennan has released a preliminary $2 billion budget that breaks down the costs of a implementing the organization’s blueprint for voting reform during the pandemic. The blueprint that has been widely cited by news media as making a central argument for a universal vote-by-mail option, while Democrats have used Brennan’s plan to push voter reform legislation.

Thursday on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) slammed efforts led by congressional Democrats to launch investigations into President Donald Trump’s response to the coronavirus/COVID-19 outbreak.

The Florida Republican told FNC’s Sean Hannity that House Democrats were “jealous and out of power,” adding that they were returning to the impeachment strategy of 2019.

“You know, Democrats are jealous and out of power, and so they are reverting to the muscle memory of the impeachment strategy where they focus on subpoenas rather than solutions, where they focus on, you know, investigations rather than ICU bed capacity,” he said.

“We’d like our Democrat colleagues to join us in passing clean bills to deal with this virus, and I agree with Mark Levin that they shouldn’t all spend trillions of dollars, but we really see what Democrats are actually fighting for,” Gaetz continued. “Not our health care workers. Not empowering our states and local communities, but things like $350 million for illegal aliens, migrants, and refugees, rather than the American people and the American worker — and I think the American people are seen through it.”

President Donald Trump’s political operation is launching a multimillion-dollar legal campaign aimed at blocking Democrats from drastically changing voting rules in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

In the past several weeks, the reelection campaign and the Republican National Committee have helped to oversee maneuvering in a handful of battleground states with an eye toward stopping some Democratic efforts to alter voting laws, and to bolster Trump. The mobilization is being closely coordinated with Republicans at the state and local levels.

The Trump campaign and RNC are actively engaged in litigation in Wisconsin, where the parties are at loggerheads over an array of issues including voter identification, and in New Mexico, where the battle involves vote-by-mail. The skirmishing has also spread across key states like Pennsylvania and Georgia, where the well-organized Trump apparatus has fought over changes that could sway the outcome of the election.

Trump has long been fixated on voter fraud. He has repeatedly claimed without evidence that he lost New Hampshire in 2016 because out-of-staters cast ballots, and after the election the president set up a since-disbanded voter fraud commission. Following the disastrous 2018 midterms, Trump said that after voting, some people “go to their car, put on a different hat, put on a different shirt, come in and vote again.”

During an appearance on Fox News this week, Trump pushed back against an effort by House Democrats to secure billions of dollars for election assistance in the coronavirus relief package. The bill Trump ultimately signed included $400 million, a fraction of what Democrats had been seeking.

“The things they had in there were crazy. They had things, levels of voting that if you’d ever agreed to it, you’d never have a Republican elected in this country again,” Trump said.

Federal funding to help states ease voting barriers in response to coronavirus is just one front in the battle. Trump's political apparatus is taking a state-by-state approach.

A ONE WAY TICKET TO NOWHERE

Everyone knows Joe Biden is a gaffe machine and he’s getting worse. During an interview he stated that the COVID-19 cure “will make the problem worse, no matter what.” In other recent interviews he made fumbling replies. Even though he was thrown softball questions, Joe quickly became confused and incoherent.

Clearly Biden is not mentally fit to be president and everyone knows it. He stands no chance against President Trump this fall. Unless the Democrats are resigned to lose, they’ll need to somehow force Joe out in a brokered convention. Some are talking about Andrew Cuomo, the governor of New York, as Joe’s replacement. Others think it will be Hillary.

It’s now clear why Obama told Biden, “You don’t have to do this, Joe, you really don’t,”

Too bad Joe didn’t listen.
