A key Senate committee is vowing to press forward with its investigation targeting former Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter, despite logistical challenges posed by the global coronavirus pandemic.

The probe, which Democrats vigorously oppose, has fueled tension among the Senate’s ranks, even breaking out into a rare and previously unreported verbal altercation between senators during a classified briefing.

The Senate Homeland Security Committee’s Republican-led inquiry was entering a critical phase last month when senators dropped all nonessential work to focus on delivering economic and medical relief as the coronavirus reached a crisis point in the United States. The Senate is not due back in Washington until April 20 at the earliest.

“While the chairman is primarily focused on the once-in-a-generation crisis we’re experiencing, our oversight staff is continuing to push ahead with their work. Nothing has changed in our long-term plans for our investigations,” said Austin Altenburg, a spokesman for the committee’s chairman, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.).

In fact, a Senate staffer working on the probe explicitly told one witness’ legal team several weeks ago — just before the wave of lockdowns — that the coronavirus pandemic would not impede the committee’s probe, according to a source familiar with the matter.

And less than a month ago, a top-secret briefing centered on 2020 election security spiraled into a combative and partisan snipe-fest when Democratic senators began asking about the Biden investigation. It was a reflection of the widespread uneasiness surrounding the probe that was apparent even before the coronavirus pandemic became senators’ top priority.

The investigation centers on Hunter Biden’s role on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company, and allegations that a Democratic public-affairs firm sought to leverage Biden’s role to influence State Department policies under the Obama administration. The claims, which Democrats wholly reject, fueled President Donald Trump’s efforts to pressure the Ukrainian government to look into the matter — and Republican senators are investigating the issue as the elder Biden is almost certain to secure the Democratic presidential nomination in the coming weeks.

A Biden campaign spokesperson said the chairman should instead be focusing on the coronavirus pandemic, and called the probe "an in-kind contribution to the Trump campaign."

Johnson, who has said his probe has nothing to do with the presidential election, plans to release an interim report soon on the committee’s investigation. But with senators scattered in their home states, much of the panel’s non-coronavirus work is on hold.

For example, senators are unable to review sensitive documents, many of which are permanently housed in the Senate’s classified facilities, or receive defensive briefings that the committee’s top Democrat, Sen. Gary Peters of Michigan, has demanded. And committee members have yet to vote on a subpoena targeting the public-relations firm which did consulting work for Burisma, Blue Star Strategies — indefinitely delaying lawmakers’ ability to obtain documents viewed as important to the investigation. Additionally, large swaths of Senate staffers are working from home, significantly limiting their access to information.

Investigators in Ukraine have launched a probe into former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden over allegations that he pressured Ukrainian officials to fire the country’s top prosecutor in 2016, according to a report.

The Ukrainian probe was launched in response to a court order, after the ousted prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, made an appeal for action in the matter, Shokin’s attorney, Oleksandr Teleshetsky, told The Washington Post.

“They need to investigate this. They have no other alternative,” Teleshetsky told the Post. “They are required to do this by the decision of the court. If they don't, then they violate a whole string of procedural norms.”

Not All Deep State are Democrats

Romney is neither Mittens nor Pierre Delecto anymore. He’s now Benedict Romney–a turncoat and traitor.

Like Judge Andrew Napolitano, Romney didn’t receive spoils from the president and so he turned against him. Romney is a notorious flip flopper who has changed his positions repeatedly. His ‘GUILTY’ vote against Trump was a flop.

Romney didn’t try very hard to defeat a very beatable Obama. He will never be president and it must grate on him to see Trump’s success. Rick Gorka, a former Romney press secretary, said the senator’s decision to convict the president Trump for ‘abuse of power’ was motivated by bitterness and jealousy. Romney claims he couldn’t vote “not guilty” due to his conscience. We laughed out loud when we heard him say that.

Romney has a severe case of ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome.’ He is McCain 2.0.

Nancy Pelosi tore up Trump’s speech and Mitt Romney tore up any chance he had of ever being respected again by his own party.

On the night before the Senate impeachment trial began, someone broke into veteran Washington investigative journalist John Solomon’s car, which was parked near the White House, and stole his laptop, according to a D.C. Metropolitan Police Department report obtained by RealClearInvestigations.

The computer contained notes on Ukraine and former Vice President Joe Biden and other sensitive information, Solomon said in an interview. He said he was preparing to launch a new podcast and news site at the time.

Solomon said that, other than the bag, nothing else was stolen from his car, including cash he used for the Metro.

The Democrat’s barnyard stinks. They have been pigs at a trough of corruption for too long.

We’ve learned that even John Bolton stuffed $115,000 into his pockets thanks to a Ukrainian steel oligarch. Is that why he became a turncoat?

We know a thoroughly unqualified cocaine addict, Hunter Biden, was appointed to the board of a leading Ukraine gas company and raked in millions of dollars. His father Joe threatened a prosecutor who wanted to investigate his son. Quid pro Joe! Same with Romney’s son. Is that why the Utah senator has backstabbed the president after pleading for his support?

Pelosi’s son Paul has also benefited from Ukraine in a deal similar to Hunter’s. He has also brokered sports deals in Ukraine while being associated with corrupt con artists.

The Democrats continue to use Saul Alinsky’s tactic of blaming opponents for what they are doing. They are determined to affix the Ukraine corruption label on the president, even if it wastes an enormous amount of time and at a cost of millions of dollars from taxpayers.

This corruption started with Farmer Obama, who ran the most scandalous administrations in history. Unfortunately he has sowed a bitter a bitter crop of corruption–not only with Ukraine, but also in our judicial system, security agencies, and of course, the mass media. Pigs who get too greedy usually get slaughtered. We’ll settle for some justice.

“I would love to see a trial. I’d love to be a witness — because I’m a potential witness in the trial — and explain to everyone the corruption that I found in Ukraine, that far out-surpasses any I’ve ever seen before, involving Joe Biden and a lot of other Democrats.” Giuliani told host John Catsimatidis.

Frank Biden, the youngest brother of former Vice President Joe Biden, saw his business interests benefit from millions of dollars in taxpayer loans to Caribbean nations during the Obama years.

The extensive overlap in Frank Biden’s dealings and Obama-Biden foreign policy in Central America is exposed in Peter Schweizer’s new book—Profiles in Corruption: Abuse of Power by America’s Progressive Elite.

Frank Biden first set his sights on the region in 2009, as the Obama administration began to repair the U.S. relationship with Costa Rica. Tensions between the two countries flared under President George W. Bush, most notably on how to deal with drug trafficking.

When President Barack Obama entered the White House, he set out to mend fences in the region in hopes of inaugurating a new era of global cooperation. Leading the charge on that front was Joe Biden, who had long standing ties to the region from his tenure leading the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Shortly after the new administration took office, Frank Biden began scouting real estate opportunities in Costa Rica. A lawyer by training, Frank was undeterred by his lack of background in international development and decades old legal troubles at home.

As Schweizer notes, despite the professional and personal handicaps, business opportunities were plentiful for Frank, especially after his brother paid a visit to the country.
