FCC Chairman: "If you were to hand pick a group to tilt an election against the incumbent President, I don't think it would look much different than the oversight board that Facebook has put together, so I think that this Executive Order is welcome news, including calling in the Federal Trade Commission."

NORCROSS, Georgia — Vice President Mike Pence told Breitbart News that the Trump administration is “not going to tolerate” social media and big tech companies aiming to silence conservative voices in the 2020 election.

Asked during an exclusive interview on Friday about big tech companies like Twitter, Facebook, Google, and others downplaying conservative voices, Pence said that President Donald Trump has “made it very clear” this type of behavior is unacceptable. Pence’s interview aired on Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM 125 the Patriot Channel.

“Well, the president has made it very clear that we are not going to tolerate censorship on the Internet and social media against conservatives,” Pence said. “We’re just not going to tolerate it.”

The Wall Street Journal reported over the weekend that Trump is mulling creating a panel to review big tech bias against conservatives. The Wall Street Journal’s Alex Leary and John McKinnon wrote.:

President Trump is considering establishing a panel to review complaints of anticonservative bias on social media, according to people familiar with the matter, in a move that would likely draw pushback from technology companies and others. The plans are still under discussion but could include the establishment of a White House-created commission that would examine allegations of online bias and censorship, these people said. The administration could also encourage similar reviews by federal regulatory agencies, such as the Federal Communications Commission and the Federal Election Commission, they said.

Pence, in his interview with Breitbart News, made clear conservative media voices are key to the public getting accurate information in this election year. Pence said that given the fact the vast majority of the establishment media has gotten several major stories—from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation to impeachment and more—wrong, the public needs more voices not less to get the truth.

“The great news is there are—in addition to Breitbart—there are great and consistent voices bringing the facts to the American people,” Pence said. “While many in the mainstream media have been after this president, after this administration, since before our inauguration, it’s been that chorus of voices on the Internet that have brought forth the truth and the facts to the American people. Whether it be the whole Mueller investigation or the Russia hoax or whether it be the impeachment that was brought forward and rejected by the Senate, it’s been those voices that’s made a difference for America, and we have every confidence going forward that we’re going to make sure the First Amendment rights of people who cherish freedom and cherish what this president has been able to do for this country are preserved, and I have every confidence that with that great army of conservative thinkers on the Internet we’re going to drive toward a great victory come November.”

Asked also about the recent GOP win in California’s 25th congressional district special election, and if it signals a coming “red wave” in November, Pence first noted that the GOP also had a big win in Wisconsin. Then he noted that he believes he and Trump are headed to a victory in November as well.

“Don’t leave out Wisconsin too. It was a couple of great wins,” Pence said. “Look, I couldn’t be more proud to be vice president to President Donald Trump. In our first three years, this is a president who rebuilt our military, who appointed more principled conservatives to our courts than any president in history. This is a president who revived the American economy after the slowest post-cession recovery in history under the Obama administration. Millions of jobs created through tax cuts, regulatory relief, unleashing American energy, free and fair trade. And this is a president who has led our nation through one of the greatest challenges in the last century that has saved lives. He stood up not just a whole-of-government response, but he stood up a whole-of-America response. He marshaled not just the full power of the federal government but the full power of the American economy to meet this moment. We’re going to continue to do that as we continue to build up our supply reserves and continue to develop therapeutics and vaccines going forward. I think as the American people see the leadership that President Donald Trump has provided this nation they know that come November that President Donald Trump is exactly the right man to lead our nation’s economy back and to keep America strong, secure, prosperous, and healthy, and I’m looking forward to campaigning with him all the way to another victory in November 2020.”

Elon Musk took a swipe Thursday at a Facebook exec who criticized his knowledge of AI (artificial intelligence).

“Facebook sucks,” Musk wrote in response to a tweet from Jerome Pesenti, Facebook’s head of AI.

Pesenti had earlier tweeted that Musk “has no idea what he is talking about when he talks about AI” in response to a CNBC article about the Tesla and SpaceX CEO’s “complex” relationship with the AI community.

That same year, Musk warned that AI could cause World War III.

In his tweet, Pesenti wrote that “there is no such thing as AGI [Artificial General Intelligence] and we are nowhere near matching human intelligence.”

ELON MUSK THINKS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE COULD CAUSE WORLD WAR III

The CNBC article cited “multiple” unnamed AI researchers from different companies who described Musk’s comments on the technology as “inappropriate.” They also urged the public not to take Musk’s views on AI too seriously.

Despite his criticism of AI, Musk has also invested in the technology, notably in U.K.-based DeepMind, which was later purchased by Google. He is also a co-founder of the neurotechnology company Neuralink, which is “developing ultra-high bandwidth brain-machine interfaces to connect humans and computers.”

This is not the first time Musk has been critical of Facebook. In 2018, he pulled the SpaceX and Tesla pages from the social network in response to the Cambridge Analytica scandal.

Fox News reached out to Facebook with a request for comment.

An anti-Trump Democratic-aligned political action committee advised by retired Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal is planning to deploy an information warfare tool that received initial funding from DARPA, the Pentagon’s secretive research arm -- transforming technology originally envisioned as a way to fight ISIS propaganda into a campaign platform to benefit Joe Biden.

The Washington Post first reported that the initiative, called Defeat Disinfo, will utilize "artificial intelligence and network analysis to map discussion of the president’s claims on social media," and then attempt to "intervene" by "identifying the most popular counter-narratives and boosting them through a network of more than 3.4 million influencers across the country — in some cases paying users with large followings to take sides against the president."

YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki says the platform will ban content peddling fake or unproven coronavirus remedies.
    • In an interview with CNN, she also suggested that video that "goes against" WHO guidance on the pandemic will be blocked, an expansive policy that may be difficult to enforce in practice.
    • In March, YouTube said it would demonetize videos about the coronavirus over perceived insensitivity concerns, but reversed that decision a week later after a backlash from disgruntled YouTubers.
    • The platform has already banned videos that link 5G to the spread of COVID-19.
    • Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories.
YouTube Susan Wojcicki has suggested that the video platform will remove content that contradicts the World Health Organization's advice on COVID-19.

In an interview with CNN published Sunday, Wojcicki said YouTube would be "removing information that is problematic" including "anything that is medically unsubstantiated."

For example, she said, content that claimed vitamin C or turmeric would cure people of COVID-19 would be "a violation of our policy" and removed accordingly.

She continued: "Anything that goes against WHO recommendations would be a violation of our policy and so remove is another really important part of our policy."

Just saw this in a blurb while watching great Hannity/Trump interview tonight .
All Twitter needs to do now is provide this option as a personal choice...
Controlled by the user themselves or via a trusted friend...
and... not by ABC Big Brother Overlord...
For years, we have offered this option at PHI.

Twitter is testing tweets in Brazil that disappear after 24 hours, similar to the stories feature by Facebook’s photo-sharing app Instagram.

Called “fleets”, the vanishing messages are viewed by tapping on a user’s profile picture, and people can react to them only with direct messages, Kayvon Beykpour, the company’s product lead said on Twitter.

Beykpour said Twitter was “working to create new capabilities that address some of the anxieties that hold people back from talking on Twitter”.

“Every day, people come to Twitter to see what’s happening. One of the unique things about Twitter is that ‘what’s happening’ is fueled by people sharing their thoughts openly, through tweets. But sharing your thoughts publicly can be intimidating!” he said.
People often tell us that they don’t feel comfortable Tweeting because Tweets can be seen and replied to by anybody, feel permanent and performative (how many Likes & Retweets will this get!?). Many of us can probably empathize with this: https://twitter.com/Hocclevefanboy/status/1234331475874656256 …

The move comes as the social media company is looking to make its platform more user-friendly and bring in more people through measures such as allowing people to follow topics and by trying to clean up abusive content.

Late last year, Twitter launched a feature for users to hide certain replies on their tweets.

“We’re hoping that fleets can help people share the fleeting thoughts that they would have been unlikely to tweet,” Beykpour said.

A billionaire Republican megadonor has purchased a "sizable" stake in Twitter and "plans to push" to oust CEO Jack Dorsey among other changes, according to new reports, raising the prospect of a shocking election-year shakeup of the social media platform that conservatives have long accused of overt left-wing political bias.

Paul Singer’s Elliott Management Corp. has already nominated four directors to Twitter's board, Bloomberg News reported, citing several sources familiar with the arrangement. The outlet noted that unlike other prominent tech CEOs, Dorsey didn't have voting control over Twitter because the company had just one class of stock; and he has long been a target for removal given Twitter's struggling user growth numbers and stock performance.

Singer, who opposed President Trump's campaign in 2016, has since changed his tune, raising the prospect that some of the changes to Twitter could make the platform a friendlier place for pro-Trump users. According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Singer donated $24 million to Republican and right-leaning groups in the 2016 election.

DOJ UNDERTAKING ANTITRUST REVIEW OF FACEBOOK, GOOGLE

"As you know, Paul was very much involved with the anti-Trump or as they say 'Never Trump," and Paul just left [the White House] and he's given us his total support and it’s all about unification," Trump said in 2017. "So, I want to thank Paul Singer for being here and coming up to the office. He was a very strong opponent and now he's a very strong ally and I appreciate that."

    Something smells fishy...
Company affiliated with Pro-Trump conspiracy theory Epoch Times???

    upload_2019-12-21_10-46-6.png

    upload_2019-12-21_10-46-30.png

Facebook and Twitter on Friday removed a network of fake accounts linked to the pro-Trump conspiracy website The Epoch Times.

Facebook in a blog post said it had connected the accounts to U.S.-based media company The BL, which in turn has ties to The Epoch Times.

That group, with ties to the Chinese spiritual group Falun Gong, has used social media to push for President Trump's reelection, NBC News first reported in August.

The hundreds of accounts were operated by individuals in Vietnam and the U.S., many of whom used artificial intelligence to generate profiles to infiltrate groups and dodge Facebook enforcement.

The individuals then pretended to be Americans and posted anti-impeachment and pro-Trump messages, often linking back to The BL's website.

The accounts were removed because of the way they operated — coordinated inauthentic behavior, misrepresentation and violating spam rules — rather than the content they posted.

Facebook removed 610 Facebook accounts, 89 pages, 156 groups and 72 Instagram accounts.

Roughly 55 million individuals followed at least one of the accounts and an estimated 92,000 people followed one or more of the Instagram accounts, showing a broad reach. For context, Trump himself has 26 million followers.

"The BL is now banned from Facebook," Nathaniel Gleicher, Facebook's head of cybersecurity policy, said in the blog post. "We are continuing to investigate all linked networks, and will take action as appropriate if we determine they are engaged in deceptive behavior."
