Nellie Ohr, the wife of demoted FBI official Bruce Ohr, not only worked for Fusion GPS, she is
Russia-speaker with ties to the CIA who holds advanced academic degrees in Russian
literature and history.
Nellie Ohr is the holder of an amateur ham radio license, KM4UDZ, granted by the Federal
Communications Commission on May 23, 2016, that she might have obtained
to communicate “outside the normal risk of communication intercepts” with Christopher
Steele, the British intelligence agent responsible for producing the Fusion GPS opposition
research dossier on Donald Trump.

A month after Hillary Clinton hired Fusion GPS (April 2016) to sub-contract retired British MI6
agent Christopher Steele to write the opposition research report “the Trump Russia Dossier”,
Fusion GPS employee Nellie Ohr applied for a HAM radio license (May 23rd 2016); a
communication tool that would allow Nellie Ohr and Christopher Steele the ability to
communicate outside the normal risk of communication intercepts.
Keeping in mind, both Bruce and Nellie Ohr’s subject matter skill-set within the DOJ would
provide them with a comprehensive understanding of how to network and communicate with
international actors outside the traditional risk of communication intercepts. In short, Mrs. Nelli
Ohr would know that using HAM radio frequencies would be a way to avoid the risk of U.S.
intelligence intercepts on her communications.
One way to ensure secure communications with parties external to the U.S. would be the use
of HAM radio operations. You simply establish the frequency to use, and the time of the
conversation, and presto. That’s it. “Red-Dog-One to Red-Dog-Two, come in?” etc.
Fortunately, this FCC license application now becomes evidence of an intent to subvert
traditional communications intercepts... which, when combined with the other growing trails of
evidence showing Fusion GPS schemes around the manufacturing of the Dossier, gets more
interesting.

Did President Obama Read the ‘Steele Dossier’ in the White House Last August?
In any case, the history of the “Steele dossier” doesn’t begin with Christopher Steele or Nellie Ohr in the summer of 2016; it begins with a story that Glenn Simpson and Mary Jacoby co-wrote for The Wall Street Journal dated April 17, 2007. “How Lobbyists Help Ex-Soviets Woo Washington” details how prominent Republicans, including the 1996 Republican presidential candidate Robert Dole, opened doors in the American capital for Kremlin-affiliated oligarchs and other friends of Vladimir Putin. Among those friends of Putin was Viktor Yanukovich, who would become president of Ukraine in 2010. According to the article, one of Yanukovich’s wealthy patrons paid a political fixer named Paul Manafort to introduce Yanukovich to powerful Washington, D.C., figures, including former Vice President Dick Cheney. Manafort figures prominently throughout the piece.

A year later, when Simpson and Jacoby discovered that a consultant to John McCain’s 2008 presidential run was working with Yanukovich, they could hardly have been surprised to find Paul Manafort in the middle of a new scandal. As they reported in another Wall Street Journal article, dated May 14, 2008, Davis Manafort, Manafort’s lobbying firm, was escorting Yanukovich around Washington. For instance, in 2006, Manafort accompanied him at a breakfast for journalists at the Willard Hotel.

Simpson and Jacoby had ID’d Manafort as a world-class sleazeball and they were right. A slick Georgetown Law grad running in GOP circles since the Reagan campaign, Manafort used his talents and connections to get paid by some very bad people. I would only add here that, in my personal experience, journalists are not in the habit of forgetting major stories they’ve written, especially stories with a character like Manafort at the center.

So when the Trump campaign named Paul Manafort as its campaign convention manager on March 28, 2016, you can bet that Simpson and Jacoby’s eyes lit up. And as it happened, at the exact same time that Trump hired Manafort, Fusion GPS was in negotiations with Perkins Coie, the law firm representing the Clinton campaign and the DNC, to see if there was interest in the firm continuing the opposition research on the Trump campaign they had started for the Washington Free Beacon. In addition to whatever sales pitch Simpson might have offered about Manafort, the Clinton campaign had independent reason to believe that research into Manafort’s connections might pay some real political dividends: A Democratic consultant and Ukrainian-American activist named Alexandra Chalupa, told the Clinton campaign about Manafort’s work for Yanukovich. “I flagged for the DNC the significance of his hire,” Chalupa told CNN in July of this year.

Perhaps it was this alignment of the stars that clinched the deal. According to an Oct. 24, 2017, letter from Perkins Coie, the firm hired Fusion GPS to continue its research in April, shortly after Manafort was hired by Trump.

Okay, so I didn't remember exactly correctly. It was a 2007 WSJ article not a hit piece on McCain.
I want to also note, that Manafort is widely considered to be a "plant" into the Trump campaign, for the DNC. As is Carter Page.
And further down in The Tablet article, the Magnistky Act comes up.
The Mueller investigation's focus on Manafort, and recent referral of prosecution of Tony Podesta (of the lobby firm, The Podesta Group) indicates more and more that this special counsel may be more about previous, long term K-Street crimes than anything about the current media hype about Trump/Russian collusion.

admitted in a post on her Facebook page that her husband concocted the faux scandal.

Jacoby reportedly wrote in a Facebook post from June 24, 2017, that claimed her husband
deserves the lion’s share of credit for Russiagate.
“It’s come to my attention that some people still don’t realize what Glenn’s role was in
exposing Putin’s control of Donald Trump,” Jacoby wrote. “Let’s be clear. Glenn conducted the
investigation. Glenn hired Chris Steele. Chris Steele worked for Glenn.”
The Facebook post was unearthed by Tablet Magazine which helped frame the revelation:
A Tablet investigation using public sources to trace the evolution of the now-famous dossier
suggests that central elements of the Russiagate scandal emerged not from the British ex-spy
Christopher Steele’s top-secret “sources” in the Russian government—which are unlikely to
exist separate from Russian government control—but from a series of stories that Fusion GPS
co-founder Glenn Simpson and his wife Mary Jacoby co-wrote for The Wall Street Journal well
before Fusion GPS existed, and Donald Trump was simply another loud-mouthed Manhattan
real estate millionaire. Understanding the origins of the “Steele dossier” is especially important
because of what it tells us about the nature and the workings of what its supporters would
hopefully describe as an ongoing campaign to remove the elected president of the United
States. Yet the involvement of sitting intelligence officials—and a sitting president—in such a
campaign should be a frightening thought even to people who despise Trump and oppose
every single one of his policies, especially in an age where the possibilities for such abuses
have been multiplied by the power of secret courts, wide-spectrum surveillance, and the
centralized creation and control of story-lines that live on social media while being fed from
inside protected nodes of the federal bureaucracy.
In a Facebook post from June 24, 2017, that Tablet has seen in screenshots, Jacoby claimed
that her husband deserves the lion’s share of credit for Russiagate. (She has not replied to
repeated requests for comment.) “It’s come to my attention that some people still don’t realize
what Glenn’s role was in exposing Putin’s control of Donald Trump,” Jacoby wrote. “Let’s be
clear. Glenn conducted the investigation. Glenn hired Chris Steele. Chris Steele worked for
Glenn.” This assertion is hardly a simple assertion of family pride; it goes directly to the nature
of what became known as the “Steele dossier,” on which the Russiagate narrative is founded.
The fact that Jacoby is a reporter who often shared bylines with her husband at The Wall
Street Journal is another reason to take her Facebook post seriously.
Last week’s revelation that Simpson hired Nellie Ohr, the wife of ranking Justice Department
official Bruce Ohr, to work on the dossier certainly supports Jacoby’s implicit contention that
Steele’s role in compiling the dossier has been exaggerated. Ohr is a Stanford Ph.D.
whose expertise is Russia, and she appears to be fluent in the language. Perhaps she
conducted interviews, along with—or even instead of—the British ex-spy whose byline helped
credential the now-famous oppo research file as an “intelligence product.” Maybe she wrote up
parts of the dossier or even the whole thing.

Hundreds of pages of previously unreported emails and memos provide the clearest evidence yet that a research firm, hired by Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) to find dirt on and defeat Donald Trump, worked early and often with the FBI, a Department of Justice (DOJ) official and the intelligence community during the 2016 presidential election and the early days of Trump's presidency.

Fusion GPS's work and its involvement with several FBI officials have been well reported.

But a close review of these new documents shows just how closely Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr, who reported to Obama-era Deputy AG Sally Yates, maintained contact with Fusion — and, in particular, its primary source, former British spy Christopher Steele — before, during and after the election.

Yates was fired by President Trump over an unrelated political dispute. Ohr was demoted recently.

Ohr’s own notes, emails and text messages show he communicated extensively with Steele and with Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson. Those documents have been turned over in recent weeks to investigative bodies in Congress and the DOJ, but not reviewed outside the investigative ranks until now.

They show Ohr had contact with Steele in the days just before the FBI opened its Trump-Russia probe in summer 2016, and then engaged Steele as a “confidential human source” (CHS) assisting in that probe.

They also confirm that Ohr later became a critical conduit of continuing information from Steele after the FBI ended the Brit's role as an informant.

“B, doubtless a sad and crazy day for you re- SY,” Steele texted Ohr on Jan. 31, 2017, referencing President Trump’s firing of Sally Yates for insubordination.

Steele's FBI relationship had been terminated about three months earlier. The bureau concluded on Nov. 1, 2016, that he leaked information to the news media and was “not suitable for use” as a confidential source, memos show.

The FBI specifically instructed Steele that he could no longer “operate to obtain any intelligence whatsoever on behalf of the FBI,” those memos show.

Yet, Steele asked Ohr in the Jan. 31 text exchange if he could continue to help feed information to the FBI: “Just want to check you are OK, still in the situ and able to help locally as discussed, along with your Bureau colleagues.”

“I’m still here and able to help as discussed,” Ohr texted back. “I’ll let you know if that changes.”

Steele replied, “If you end up out though, I really need another (bureau?) contact point/number who is briefed. We can’t allow our guy to be forced to go back home. It would be disastrous.” Investigators are trying to determine who Steele was referring to.

FBI officials now admit they continued to receive information from Steele through Ohr, identifying more than a half-dozen times its agents interviewed Ohr in late 2016 and 2017, to learn what Steele was saying.

That continued reliance on Steele after his termination is certain to raise interest in Congress about whether the FBI broke its own rules. (continue reading)

So, 1 1/2 years ago Nune's House Intelligence Committe submitted a report with more than the 12 included in the Mueller indictments announced by Rosenstein, and FBI/DOJ redacted it.

"I just find the timing of this to be very hard to believe. Right? You might give them the benefit of the doubt, but why does this always happen? Every time something happens on one side, where we find out a new revelation about what appears to be real problems in the FBI and DOj with this investigation, then all the sudden they drop an indictment? It has happened time and time again, and this one is really bad." (Can't believe I am transcribing words from videos here, but this makes me mad! I like Nunes. Look at the expression on his face.)

I enjoyed the moments in the hearing when the calm, mild mannered, Senator Palmer completed his statements by telling Strzok he had been watching his body language throughout the day. He said it was almost as if he (Strzok) had enjoyed the process and he thinks he has a problem with hubris .

There is also a surprising (to me) short CNN segment at the end regarding the ramifications of Strzok being the person that changed Comey's words in the Clinton Email investigation from "grossly negligent" to an "extremely careless" non-crime.
