The time I've spent with the wrong people was not wasted. It was, interestingly enough, probably the most productive time of my life. Thank you, Shadowself, for being part of that time.

In the interest of improved accuracy, let me paraphrase that Bernays quote:

"The deceptive and insidious manipulation of organized habits and opinions of the masses is a critical element in an enslaved society. Those who control this hidden mechanism of society constitute an invisible dictatorship of organized sociopaths which is the true ruling power in our world."

 

I share that sentiment of Bertrand Russell, and even started a thread dedicated to certainty versus uncertainty. It's fun to review Zook's defense of certainty, in light of his recent posts here. To wit (as Zook loves to say), he hasn't changed a whit in the intervening 3+ years. Does that mean he never learns, or that he's just certain in his knowledge? Or is that the same thing...
